Our troop sells Trails End popcorn as part of a fund raising effort to support the troop, the scouts and the local Boy Scout Council. One Third of the money from the sale remains with the Council and approximately 30% stays with the Troop. We are generous with the troop money, however. As part of paying for our scouting program, each scout must pay a $30 activity fee for the year to help off set expenses. This fee is taken from the first $100 of popcorn sold by a scout. All the remaining proceeds go into the scout's own SCOUT ACCOUNT. If a scout sells $200 worth of popcorn, the first $30 goes to the troop, and the next $30 stays wtih the scout. This is a great way to earn money and show some responsibility for paying for your scouting experience. REPORT: This year we had 33 scouts selling popcorn. We set a goal of $10,584 and sold $9,751. The goal is important for us to secure TEAM PLAYER status with the local council. Our top 3 sellers are Kyle R. with $821 sold ($246 into his scout account); Mark P. with $ 578 sold ($224 into his account); and Camron H. $553 sold ($205 into his scout account). For their efforts, the troop will be buying savings bonds of $100, $75 and $50 for the top three spaces.
